Choose From Among You
As Americans, we have the privilege, even the responsibility to vote. Who do we vote for? How does one prepare to be a leader in our government? Important questions as our society is crumbling all around us.
In Exodus 18:19-22, Moses’ father-in-law advises Moses to “select out of the people, able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain.” Just prior to that he says they should be taught the statutes and the laws, and make known to them which way they should walk and the work they are to do.”
When we vote, we are responsible to choose those who fear God, who love the truth, and hate dishonest gain.
President James Garfield said, “Now more than ever before, the people are responsible to the character of their Congress. If that body be ignorant, reckless, and corrupt, it is because the people tolerate ignorance, recklessness, and corruption. If it be intelligent, brave, and pure, it is because the people demand these high qualities to represent them in the national legislature… If the next centennial does not find us a great nation…it will be because those who represent them in the enterprise, the culture, and the morality of the nation do not aid in controlling the political forces.”
We must learn our God given responsibilities if we are to continue living in liberty. Vote.
